Audio, of varying quality, from the "Art and Immaterial Labour" symposium held at the Tate Britain on January 19th with Maurizio Lazarrato, Judith Revel, Franco "Bifo" Berardi, and Antonio Negri. Put on and hosted by the journal Radical Philosophy (http://www.radicalphilosophy.com).
Hereâs the description given:
Artâs materiality has been the focus of fierce debate since claims about the âdematerialisationâ of art were made in New York at the end of the 1960s. More recently, in the very different context of libertarian political debates in Italy and France, claims have been made about the âimmaterialâ character of labour processes based on information technology and the cultural and intellectual content of commodities. This conference will bring these two discourses together to stage a debate about contemporary art, âimmaterialâ labour and new modes of production of subjectivity.
